The V-Tailed Spider is an excellent underwater Chenille-bodied spider. We tie it in 2 styles: The V-Tailed Chenille Spider No Lead and The V-Tailed Chenille Spider with 5 turns of .020 lead wire. In calm conditions, we use the V-Tail with no lead. As the wind picks up, a leaded body will allow the lure to sink quicker near lily pads, grass lines or the shore and to be worked out before the wind affects the line and lure. The leaded spiders also help reach Bluegills, Shell Crackers, Cichlids, Oscars and other fish, which can be bedded in deeper water. Some of the best Bluegills will bed in four to six feet of water! Their beds are not easy to see and they will not always come up for a popper.
